SUMMARY:Payne's Grey Sky
DESCRIPTION:The seed that eventually became American-roots band\, Payne’s Grey Sky\, was planted in the summer of 2007 by high school friends Rich Dymond (bass\, guitar) and Jimi Scheffel (vocals\, guitar) with Dave Sahloff (drums\, percussion) joining the band soon after. In 2021\, the band was fortunate to recruit Arnold Richter (keyboard\, accordion). Payne’s Grey Sky’s influences are many – From classics like Dylan\, The Band\, and The Rolling Stones to contemporary acts like The Lumineers\, Dawes\, and The Avett Brothers. Over the years\, Payne’s Grey Sky has lovingly donated their time for local annual fundraising events\, including YWCA’s Tunes for Tots\, The Rosemary D. Gruner Memorial Bike for Cancer Care\, and The Delisio Memorial Golf Tournament benefitting the Special Olympics. Payne’s Grey Sky has played at a number of local venues throughout the Hudson Valley and released their debut CD in June 2015. They are planning to record several new songs and release them as singles throughout 2022. Check out the compilation videos below to hear some originals and covers the band performs.

Think Creedence meets the Dead\, or perhaps NRBQ meets the Elvin Bishop band\, or even Little Feat meets Johnny Cash! \nBand-members include band leader and founder Vito Petroccitto\, singer/songwriter\, musician\, producer\, actor and most of all entertainer extraordinaire. He’s been pleasing audiences in and around the Hudson Valley region of New York for nearly 40 years. Performing cover tunes in various Bar Bands in his early days\, he’s reached a point in his life where he’s bound and determined to create his own music and go deeper into his heart and soul. His touring experience includes performing with Professor Louie and the Crowmatix\, the Amrod Band with Pee Wee Ellis and Fred Wesley (James Brown Horns)\, Frank Gadler Band (original vocalist NRBQ)\, Sloan Wainwright\, And many others. Vito has produced hundreds of records and with the other guys in Little Rock\, continues to do session work on a steady basis. However\, the focus is now performing live! The love of his life is to make people happy through music! \nThe rest of the band-members are Eric Parker on drums (John Hall Band\, Bonnie Raitt\, Steve Winwood\, Joe Cocker\, Eric Clapton\, the list goes on)\, Mark Dann on bass (many years of experience as a producer/recording studio owner/operator \,too many associations to list!) and Jeff Schechter (Big Smoothies)

DESCRIPTION:John Jongebloed: John plays lead and rhythm guitar and covers vocals as well. He is a self-taught musician who has been playing guitar for over 30 years. After John heard the Layla album he fell in love with the guitar playing of Eric Clapton and Duane Allman\, went down to Manny’s in NYC and bought a Stratocaster just like the one in the inside cover of the album. Other influences include Stevie Ray Vaughan\, Jimi Hendrix\, Leslie West\, Gary Moore\, Robert Cray and Kenny Wayne Shepherd. After playing in a local band\, John spent several years playing with Eran Troy Danner which really helped him fine tune his blues chops. John\, Marty and Steve had been playing in another band together when they decided they wanted to play more blues orientated music and The Barrelhouse Blues Band was formed. \nSteve Barney: Plays keyboards\, vocals\, backing vocals\, harp\, trombone and baritone. He started to feel the love of music as a young child when asked to sing solo in the church choir. Steve took up the baritone and trombone and spent three years competing in world competition marching with the Hawthorne Cabelleros. After taking a few years off from music\, Steve hooked up with John Jongebloed and got the blood flowing again. He started playing keyboards and harmonica when as a small band we needed some diversity. His influences were pretty spread out musically loving Alice Cooper\, Santana\, Southside Johnny\, Deep Purple\, and anything with a with a horn line or blues lick. \nWayne Curtis Charleston: Wayne has been into the bass and guitar for almost 30 years. As an Orange County\, NY native he has been performing and recording with several groups such as The Diltz Brothers Band\, Karmablind\, One Trip Garden and Half Jester. He love all types of music but he is mainly into rock\, blues\, jam and soul. \nMarty Ratajczak: Marty has been playing drums for 36 years and handles vocals. He started at the age of ten years old with a focus on technique and big band music. Drummers like Buddy Rich\, Joe Morello\, Gene Krupa\, Steve Gadd and Louis Bellson. Then in 1984\, his stepbrother took him to see Rush and nothing was ever the same. Marty became interested in the progressive scene\, with bands like Rush\, Yes\, Dream Theater and Queensryche. Over the years\, Marty’s love of music and performing live continues to grow. He met John and Steve in another cover band which lead to The Barrelhouse Blues Band forming

DESCRIPTION:“Snapper and Ken have been playing the blues since the late ’60’s. We started our journey during high school in Cornwall\, NY. After graduation we set off on our own paths and lost contact for 35 years or so. We reconnected again around 2009 (thank you Facebook) and began planning. Eventually Ken moved back to the Hudson Valley and it was game on. Enlisting the help of Avery (Ken’s son) on drums and Matt Dowden on bass the Sidemen began to take form. It’s a really interesting mix of musicians. Two players in their 60’s and two players in their 20’s. Lots of fun\, energy and learning in every direction.”
